artist statement - My art piece titled ‘wheat on Mabel’ is a gorgeous shred of bark from (an amputated trunk of) our own maple tree named Mabel. She cradles two lovely bunches of straw, one of cream color, the other a soft green and each one elegantly wrapped in French-style, and with velvet ribbon. The tiny antique key is a nod to nature’s timeless and essential role in fostering human joy.
